Personal history
Jules Michelet
Born in Paris in August 1798, at the end of the French Revolution. While helping his father's printing business, he grew up in Paris, where still has a strong impression of the Middle Ages, and studied hard.
In 1827, he was a professor of history at the Higher Normal School.
In 1831, he was a director of the National Archives of History. In 1838, he became a professor of Colage de France.
Under the Retro Monarchy and the imperial rule of Napoleon III, he maintained the position that the people played a leading role despite the oppression.
Died in February 1874.
