The original songs are recorded with the rare Mahler arranged version (string ensemble)' Death and Otome' which was not even published in the Grove Dictionary. It is interesting to listen to (1) and (2) one after another at a time. However, (2) is sometimes transformed into a grotesque sound, far from the "fear of death" discovered by the modern quartet.
