New SL Ginga from TOMIX! The C58 239 appeared in 1938 as a passenger-cargo locomotive to replace the C58 9600 freight locomotive and the C58 8620 passenger locomotive manufactured in the Taisho era.

The C58 239 was used on local lines throughout the country, including Hokkaido and Shikoku, as well as for private railways and Sakhalin.
The C58 was used on many lines, including Rikuuto Line, Rikuusai Line, Yamada Line and Hatinohe Line, which branched from Tohoku Line.
The C58 No. 1940 was manufactured. Initially, it was used in the Kansai area, including the Inazawa Engine Depot and the Nara Engine Depot. However, in 1943, it was transferred to the Miyako Engine Depot. Since then, it was used in the Tohoku area until 1972 in the Hachinohe Engine Depot.
